# Data Analyst – Strategy and Quantitative Analytics

About the Role

Burford Capital is the leading global finance and asset management firm focused on law, specializing in litigation finance, risk management, asset recovery, and legal finance advisory. Based in the London Office, this role within the Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team supports the development and operation of Burford’s proprietary investment modelling platform.

The position reports to a Senior Vice President and involves a blend of quantitative finance, business analysis, and software development to translate investment needs into robust specifications, testing, and implementation.

Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will:

  • Support Burford’s proprietary investment modelling platform by developing, refining, and maintaining its functionality.
  • Collaborate with business teams to:
    • Identify model logic, analytical objectives, and priority enhancements.
    • Draft functional and technical specifications for new features, platform improvements, and tools.
  • Prepare test packets and validation materials to ensure models perform as intended.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Business Architecture, and Technology teams for seamless software delivery.
  • Continuously improve modelling systems while documenting requirements, technical decisions, and test outcomes.
  • Communicate recommendations to the wider Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team for action.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Outstanding academic record or recent graduate/recent absolvient (≤2 years) in a STEM-based degree program (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (analysis, troubleshooting, validation).
