Type: Full-time, permanent
About the role
MDE is recruiting a Monitoring & Data Analyst for an established business operating across the UK renewable energy sector.
This is a technical, data-focused position supporting the ongoing performance of a portfolio of operational solar assets. You'll use monitoring systems and operational data to identify faults, investigate performance issues and help ensure assets are operating effectively.
The role would suit someone who enjoys working with data but also wants exposure to the technical and operational side of renewable energy. Previous solar experience would be beneficial, but we're also interested in candidates from other monitoring, engineering, utilities or data-led environments with transferable skills.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for monitoring operational solar assets remotely, reviewing alarms and performance data and identifying potential faults or underperformance. Day to day, this will include:
- Monitoring asset performance across a range of systems and platforms.
- Reviewing and prioritising alarms and potential faults.
- Analysing operational data and investigating performance issues.
- Calculating and reporting against operational KPIs.
- Producing regular performance reports and maintaining accurate datasets.
- Working with engineering and operational teams to investigate faults and coordinate corrective actions.
- Supporting the troubleshooting of site communication systems and network connectivity.
- Maintaining asset information within maintenance management systems.
- Identifying trends and anomalies within large datasets.
- Helping improve internal reporting and the way operational data is used across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
