The Customer
We are working with a large financial institute who are looking for a Data Governance Analyst to join the team. This position is a 12-month fixed term contract, home based.
The Data Governance Analyst supports regulatory remediation and wider data governance activity within a customer resolutions function. The role helps ensure customer, account and remediation data is governed, documented, understood and controlled throughout its lifecycle.
The Role
- Support data governance controls, standards and procedures in line with organisational frameworks.
- Document data requirements, governance artefacts, business definitions, lineage and critical data elements.
- Keep governance documentation accurate and aligned to process, system and data source changes.
- Promote adherence to data governance policies and operating procedures.
- Conduct data profiling, validation and quality analysis.
- Produce data quality reporting, dashboards and management information.
- Identify, investigate and document data quality issues, exceptions and control failures.
- Support root cause analysis, remediation planning and monitoring of data quality controls.
- Validate data used in remediation calculations, customer outcomes and regulatory submissions.
- Gather, document and maintain business and data requirements.
- Analyse data from multiple sources to assess completeness, consistency and suitability for use.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand data flows, dependencies and source systems.
- Support testing through test scenarios, test cases and data validation approaches.
- Maintain data models, flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams and related artefacts.
- Ensure governance, compliance, reporting and regulatory review activities meet required standards.
- Support the identification and management of data-related risks and issues.

Your Profile
- Experience working in financial services is a must.
- Experience in data analysis, profiling, quality assessment and issue investigation.
- Strong SQL skills and ability to analyse large, complex datasets.
- Experience producing reports, dashboards and visualisations using Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects or equivalent.
- Experience documenting metadata, business definitions and data governance artefacts.
- Understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, lineage, metadata and critical data elements.
