At Northern Gas Networks (NGN), data helps shape the way we work, improve how we serve our customers and keep millions of homes and businesses safely connected across the North of England. We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Data & Insights team and turn complex information into clear, meaningful insight that supports smarter decisions across the business.

This is a great opportunity to put your analytical skills to work in a role where your insights genuinely make a difference. You will work closely with teams across NGN to spot trends, solve problems, improve reporting and bring data to life through dashboards, analysis and recommendations that help drive performance, innovation and continuous improvement.

In this role you will

  • Collect, analyse and interpret data from a variety of business systems
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations using tools such as Power BI
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for a range of stakeholders
  • Identify trends, patterns and performance opportunities to support business improvement
  • Work closely with teams across NGN to understand reporting requirements and deliver effective solutions
  • Support data quality, governance and data management activities
  • Improve reporting processes and identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency
  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear and engaging way to both technical and non-technical audiences

We are looking for

  • Experience in a Data Analyst, Reporting Analyst, Business Intelligence or similar role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working with large datasets and reporting tools
  • Knowledge of SQL and data extraction techniques
  • Experience creating dashboards and visualisations using Power BI or similar tools
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear, business-focused way
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement

Desirable

  • A degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Experience with SAP BW, SAP Analytics Cloud or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality principles
  • Experience working within utility, engineering or infrastructure environments
