Data Analyst Public Sector | Salary up to £55,000 + Excellent Benefits + 2 year Fixed Term Contract - London

We're recruiting Data Analyst to join a large, nationally recognised public sector organisation as it embarks on an ambitious transformation of its commercial and enterprise data capabilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with modern Microsoft technologies, helping shape the future of data and analytics within an organisation that delivers services with real public impact.

The Opportunity

You'll play a key role in a major technology and data transformation programme, helping to build a modern, scalable analytics platform using Microsoft Fabric. Working across business and technical teams, you'll translate strategic priorities into trusted data products, actionable insights and high-quality reporting that supports both operational performance and long-term decision-making.

This role offers the chance to work across multiple business functions, including customer services, finance, retail, digital, marketing and commercial operations, ensuring data is governed, trusted and accessible across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business priorities and translate them into analytical requirements and KPIs.
  • Deliver meaningful analysis across customer, finance, retail, ecommerce, marketing and operational data.
  • Develop and maintain semantic models, reusable datasets and Power BI reporting solutions.
  • Partner with Data Engineers to define transformation logic, business rules and data quality requirements.
  • Validate data and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Produce dashboards, insight packs and visualisations that support evidence-based decision making.
  • Champion data quality, governance and best practice.
  • Communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support the development of a modern self-service analytics capability.

About You

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in data analysis, business intelligence or analytics within a complex organisation.
  • Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX, Power Query and data modelling.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric or another modern cloud analytics platform.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with data from multiple business systems.
  • The ability to translate business questions into trusted analytical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A solid understanding of data governance, data quality and dimensional modelling.
