Salary: Grade 11, ranging from £33,673 - £37,563 per annum
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent role
Closing date: 11th October 2026
This is an exciting opportunity to join Somerset Council's Adults Business Intelligence team at a time of significant change and transformation. You'll play a key role in delivering the data, insight and performance information that supports critical service decisions, financial oversight and improvement activity across Adult Services. Working as part of a busy and supportive team, you'll help shape how data is used to drive better outcomes, support strategic priorities and inform major service developments.
About the Role
As a Data Analyst within the Adults Business Intelligence team, you'll manage and analyse performance data, develop reporting solutions and provide meaningful insight to support service delivery and improvement. You'll work closely with colleagues across Adult Services and corporate teams, ensuring accurate, timely information is available to support operational, strategic and financial decision-making.
How You'll Make a Difference
- Collect, validate and analyse data from a range of sources to support performance reporting.
- Produce reports, dashboards and insights that help shape service decisions and improvements.
- Coordinate data submissions and ensure reporting requirements are met accurately and on time.
- Respond to information requests and provide expert advice on data and performance information.
- Identify opportunities to improve information systems, processes and data quality.
- Work closely with colleagues, schools, partners and external organisations to meet information needs.

What You'll Bring
- Experience working with performance management or business intelligence systems, ideally in a Local Government or other Public Sector organisation.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret complex information and identify trends.
- Experience producing clear reports and presenting findings to different audiences. This will include good skills with PowerBI, Excel and ideally with SQL, SSRS or Business Objects.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence using databases, spreadsheets and reporting tools, with an understanding of data governance principles.

Further Information
We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
You will be expected to work from County Hall, Taunton when required for meetings and to support specific tasks.
This role is subject to a standard DBS check.
