Job Title

Full-time position (37.5 hrs/week), although part-time considered for the right candidate. Flexible working hours also considered.

Salary

£28,000 to £32,000 (based on full-time hours) – depending on experience.

Location

Remote, but ideally Oxfordshire, London or Cornwall base preferred for proximity to team and to support regular travel to clients.

The Role

This is a full time (although part-time 4 days a week will be considered) early career-level role for someone with a strong interest in data, environmental protection and the role of business in protecting the planet. We welcome career changers and people returning to work after a break, with relevant experience gained outside consultancy counting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support on client projects from proposal to delivery.
  • Collect and analyse ESG data and translate findings into strategy.
  • Collaborate with clients across sectors to embed sustainability into core business operations.
  • Help to prepare sustainability reports, carbon disclosures, or impact assessments.
  • Share what you learn with colleagues and help the team develop as we grow.

Core Focus Areas

  1. Carbon Footprinting & Climate Strategy

    • Calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
    • Recommending emission reduction strategies, including science-based targets (SBTi).
    • Using tools like CarbonAltDelete, GHG Protocol tools, Excel models, or other specialised carbon management platforms (e.g. Normative, Watershed, Greenly, Compare Your Footprint).
  2. B Corp Certification

    • Conducting gap analyses against B Impact Assessment (BIA) requirements.
    • Advising clients on governance, employee policies, community engagement, environmental impacts, and customer stewardship.
    • Guiding the application and verification process with B Lab.
  3. Materiality Assessments

    • Supporting the senior consultants on materiality or stakeholder-based assessments.
    • Engaging internal and external stakeholders through surveys, interviews, or workshops.
    • Creating materiality matrices and reports aligned with GRI, CSRD, or SASB standards.

Requirements

  • Strong data analysis skills using Excel or other tools.
  • Around two years’ experience in sustainability, either in consultancy, an in-house ESG role, or a comparable setting where you have done similar work.
  • Awareness or understanding of ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, TCFD, CDP, CSRD).
  • Experience with carbon accounting tools.
  • Project management, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Clear written and spoken communication, including explaining technical detail to non-specialists.
  • Professional experience and/or degree in sustainability, geography, environmental science, climate policy, economics or another related field.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Proficient with AI tools such as Claude, particularly how to use these to efficiently and accurately to complement and accelerate data processing.
  • Familiarity or experience with B Corp Certification.
  • Impact reporting experience.
  • EcoVadis, ISO 14001 certification and CDP submission knowledge.
  • Wider sustainability topic knowledge such as human rights, supply chain engagement and nature/biodiversity impact.
