Enhance the charity’s data quality, integrity and usefulness, enabling leadership, fundraising, retail and animal centres to make evidence-based decisions. The apprentice will help connect disparate systems, standardise record keeping, work with real data and stakeholders, and gain a nationally recognised apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities

Data quality and stakeholder verification

  • Identify, investigate and correct data quality issues across the charity’s systems, including duplicates, incomplete records, inconsistent formatting and out of date contact details.
  • Run structured data cleansing exercises with a clear method, an audit trail and a measurable before and after position, and support deduplication and record matching against agreed rules.
  • Contact colleagues, volunteers, suppliers, partner organisations and supporters by telephone and email to confirm, correct and complete the information held about them.
  • Handle those conversations courteously and professionally, explaining why the charity is asking and what will happen to the information, and record what was confirmed, by whom and when.
  • Escalate anything sensitive, including complaints, bereavement, vulnerability indicators or data protection concerns, rather than handling it alone.

Reporting and systems support

  • Build and maintain routine reports for fundraising, retail, animal welfare operations and finance, moving repeated manual requests onto a repeatable footing.
  • Support production of monthly and quarterly key performance indicator packs for the senior management team and the Board.
  • Learn to use data visualisation tools, including Power BI, to present information clearly to non technical audiences.

Data protection and your apprenticeship

  • Handle personal data lawfully and securely under UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, applying the charity’s rules on lawful basis, consent, soft opt in, suppression and retention.
  • Complete off the job training, build a portfolio of evidence with a workplace mentor, attend progress reviews and prepare for end point assessment.
  • Work towards Level 2 English and Maths where not already achieved.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the charity

We take in animals who have become homeless due to changes in circumstance, as well as those who have experienced neglect, mistreatment or abandonment. No matter their past, every animal that comes into our care is treated with kindness, love, and respect. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where each animal can recover, rebuild trust, and prepare for a loving new home.

We pride ourselves on the high standard of care we deliver, ensuring every animal receives the comfort, compassion, nutrition, and veterinary support they need. Rehoming is at the heart of everything we do.

Our carefully considered rehoming process is designed to create lasting matches between animals and people, always guided by the best interests of the animal. We take the time to understand both the needs of our animals and the lifestyles of potential rehomers, helping to ensure successful, lifelong relationships.
