About Ofcom

As the UK’s communications regulator, we’re delivering vital work that helps keep the UK connected and shapes how we’ll stay connected with each other in the future.

Our work covers everything from phones and broadband, through to TV, radio, the postal service, and wireless devices. We’re also taking on the challenge of making the online world a safer place. And we need people of all backgrounds, skill sets, and experiences to help us achieve our goal of making communications work for everyone.

About the team you’ll be part of

The global communications industry is continuing to change at breakneck speed. As the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom is at the heart of a sector which not only impacts everyone’s lives but also plays a leading role in the UK economy.

The Research and Intelligence team is the source of critical information and insight within Ofcom, providing data and analysis on the communications industries. We sit within the Strategy and Research Group and provide first-class analysis and insight of UK communications market developments that serve as the evidence base for Ofcom’s policy and regulatory work. We work collaboratively with other Ofcom teams and with external stakeholders to deliver Ofcom’s objectives. Our work includes leading the delivery of Ofcom’s annual Communications Market Report, Online Nation Report, Media Nations Report and advising on the development and analysis of consumer research surveys, administrative data, operational data, web analytics and other new and innovative data sources.

The purpose and scope of the role

Associates in the Research and Intelligence team are empowered to display strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively. They provide high-quality analysis of communications market data, including leading analytical projects that shape Ofcom’s long-term thinking and strategy. The role in particular focuses on making the data we collect more easy for colleagues internally to explore through the use of software and tools.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
