About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Funding Officer to join the Arts & Humanities Research Council team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end process of research grant applications, from initial assessment through to project oversight. You will work closely with researchers, academic institutions, and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of funding programs aligned with AHRC’s strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for supporting arts and humanities research. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a relevant postgraduate degree in arts, humanities, social sciences, or a related field. Proven experience in research administration, grant management, or a similar role within an academic or funding organization is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with research funding processes, policies, and compliance requirements is advantageous. A proactive approach, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of research grant applications, including initial intake, eligibility checks, and peer review coordination.
- Provide guidance and support to applicants throughout the application process, ensuring clarity of requirements and deadlines.
- Evaluate proposals against strategic priorities and funding criteria, making recommendations for funding decisions.
- Oversee the administration of awarded grants, including budget monitoring, progress reporting, and compliance checks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and improve funding policies, procedures, and assessment frameworks.
- Facilitate communication between researchers, external partners, and stakeholders to promote transparency and efficiency.
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning by providing insights and data analysis related to funding trends and research impacts.
- Support outreach and engagement activities to raise awareness of AHRC funding opportunities and initiatives.
