Job Description
We are seeking a Data Analyst to join a high-profile Defence programme supporting strategic decision-making through the development of data products, applications, and analytical capabilities within a secure environment.
Working within a multidisciplinary Agile team, you will help transform complex data into valuable insights, support the development of innovative digital solutions, and contribute across the data lifecycle. You will work closely with client stakeholders, engineers, architects, and business analysts to ensure data is effectively structured, analysed, and applied to support operational and strategic outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to work with modern data platforms and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, while contributing to a programme that delivers tangible value to Defence users.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and analytical products to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Elicit, understand, and translate business and user requirements into data-driven solutions.
- Work with stakeholders to define analytical approaches, measures, and success criteria.
- Collaborate with data engineers and technical teams to access, structure, and prepare data from multiple sources.
- Support the development, testing, and validation of analytical models, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, traceability, and appropriate documentation across analytical outputs.
- Contribute to Agile delivery activities including backlog refinement, sprint ceremonies, demonstrations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Present findings, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Promote good analytical practice, data literacy, and knowledge sharing across project teams.
- Support the design and implementation of UX and UI across digital tooling.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
