Job Description

Job Title: Data Analyst

College/Directorate: CIO Group (DTS)

Grade: G

Location: High Wycombe Campus with some remote working.

Hours: 37

Responsible to: Head of Data Governance

Responsible for: Data Analysis, Data Quality & Migration Support

Job Purpose

The Data Analyst provides technical data analysis and Business Intelligence capability to support data migration, reporting and wider data quality activities.

A key focus of the role is supporting data migration activities, including data profiling, mapping, cleansing, reconciliation and validation. The postholder will use SQL extensively to interrogate source and target systems, analyse datasets, identify data quality issues and validate that migrated data is accurate, complete, consistent and fit for purpose.

The role will provide hands-on analytical and BI support across complex datasets, including extracting and transforming data, developing SQL queries, investigating discrepancies and producing clear analytical outputs.

Beyond migration activities, the postholder will support ongoing data quality initiatives, helping to identify, investigate and resolve data quality issues and contributing to sustainable improvements in data quality, reporting and governance.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Of The Role

  • Use SQL extensively to extract, interrogate, join and analyse data from relational databases.
  • Support data migration through data profiling, mapping, cleansing, reconciliation and validation.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data outputs for operational and management use.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify reporting requirements and translate them into structured outputs.
  • Support statutory and internal reporting cycles as required.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Compliance & General: Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
