About The Role
Hays Technology is seeking an experienced Power BI Data Analyst to join a prominent public sector organization on a temporary basis. This role is pivotal in supporting a critical data and compliance initiative driven by recent legislative changes. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, cleansing, and consolidating data from multiple sources, primarily Excel spreadsheets, to facilitate accurate analysis and reporting. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes that enhance regulatory compliance, improve service delivery, and enable data-driven decision-making within a complex organizational environment. The initial contract duration is three months, with potential for extension based on project needs and performance.

- Proven experience developing solutions using Power BI in a commercial or public sector setting.
- Advanced proficiency in data cleansing, transformation, and data modeling techniques.
- Strong knowledge of Power Query, DAX, and Excel at an advanced level.
- Experience consolidating fragmented datasets into a reliable analytical model.
- Ability to develop predictive analytics, trend analysis, and risk-scoring models.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather and interpret requirements effectively.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable qualifications include experience with SQL and database analysis, geospatial analysis, data governance, and familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven projects.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Assessing and enhancing the quality, consistency, and accuracy of existing datasets.
- Consolidating multiple Excel-based data sources into a structured and reliable analytical model.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to operational and senior management needs.
- Creating comprehensive reporting solutions for inspections, risk assessments, customer communications, and remedial works.
- Analyzing historical data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Developing predictive models to support risk assessment and proactive intervention strategies.
- Delivering actionable insights through visualizations and reports to support compliance and operational decision-making.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective analytical solutions.
- Ensuring data integrity and adherence to data governance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
