Data Analyst

East Midlands | £350-£400 Outside IR35
4 Days a week in office

This is an excellent opportunity for a Data Analyst contractor to join a large retail organisation during a critical period of operational analysis. You will play a key role in investigating stock and logistics data, reconciling operational discrepancies, and delivering reporting that supports business decisions across finance and supply chain functions.

The Company

They are a leading UK retailer operating across a large and complex business environment. With significant volumes of operational, stock, and financial data, analytics plays a critical role in supporting business performance and decision-making. Their Finance Operations Analytics team provides reporting, investigations, and insight to stakeholders across multiple functions. This contract opportunity offers exposure to a fast-paced, data-rich environment where your analysis will have a direct impact.

The Role and Deliverables

  • Analyse operational, stock, warehouse, logistics, and finance data to support business performance.
  • Investigate stock variances, inventory discrepancies, promotional performance, and banking data issues.
  • Perform stock reconciliation and root cause analysis to identify and explain operational inconsistencies.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Support KPI reporting across supply chain, deliveries, and operational performance.
  • Respond to ad hoc investigation requests from business stakeholders and provide analytical support to the wider team.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience using SQL for data extraction, investigation, and data analysis.
  • Proven experience building reports, dashboards, and visualisations in Power BI.
  • Experience conducting stock, inventory, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain investigations.
  • Ability to reconcile large datasets and identify the root cause of data variances.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Python experience is advantageous.
  • Previous experience within a retail environment would be beneficial.
