Do you have a passion for data that helps inspire change? This is an exciting opportunity for a pro-active, technologically savvy and analytical individual to join the Business Intelligence Team. As the Data Analyst you will support the University’s Reporting Service by responding to queries and supporting business as usual processes. You will also have the opportunity to work across the full life cycle of BI projects. Supporting others in the team to gather requirements, set up ETL processes and validate data. You’ll make use of the end products of these projects to produce analysis and insights that support decision making across the University.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Support the running of the University’s Reporting Service by managing the teams outward facing inbox.
- Responding to queries received and identifying repeat requests that could be answered by self service reporting.
- Support senior team members in the planning, design and creation of reporting from the Data Warehouse to meet the requirements of colleagues across the University.
- Working with team members, develop and document data and user acceptance testing processes and technical documents such as data dictionaries and user guides.
- Develop and maintain a specialist understanding of the data and business rules that support the University’s reporting.
- Develop and maintain your understanding of the University’s systems, relevant processes and the data held on them.
- Extract, transform and validate data from a variety of sources as well as reviewing and proposing improvements to systems and processes.
- Support the analysis of internal and external data sources.
- Develop a practical understanding of the technology used by the Business Intelligence team and principles including, cube design, SQL and DAX.
- Monitor use and engagement of reporting, including report reviews taking into account feedback and the changing needs of the University.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Further Information
- Grade: 6
- Salary: £32,080 - £36,636 per annum. Potential to progress to £39,906 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.
- Work arrangement: Full-time (35 hours per week)
- Line manager: Business Intelligence Developer (Service Management Lead)
