Data Analyst
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE

The Opportunity
I'm currently working with a well-established Financial Services organisation based in Birmingham that is looking to hire a Data Analyst to join its growing data and analytics function.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in turning data into meaningful insights that support decision-making across the business. You'll work closely with stakeholders across commercial, finance, operations and wider business functions to understand requirements, analyse data and deliver reporting that helps drive performance.
The business is continuing to invest in its data capabilities, making this an exciting time to join an organisation where data is becoming increasingly central to how the business operates.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business and customer data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reports for stakeholders across the organisation.
- Gather reporting requirements from business users and translate them into effective analytical solutions.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract, manipulate and analyse data.
- Produce regular KPI, performance and management reporting.
- Work closely with finance, commercial, operational and wider business teams to understand challenges and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Support ad-hoc analysis to answer key business questions and inform strategic decisions.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency and quality of reporting across multiple data sources.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and data visibility across the business.
- Communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Document reporting processes and maintain high standards across the data and analytics function.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst or similar analytical role.
- Strong SQL skills with experience querying and analysing relational databases.
- Experience developing dashboards using Power BI, Tableau or a similar BI platform.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
- Experience working with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver analytical solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced Financial Services environment.

Desirable Skills
- Previous experience within Financial Services, banking, insurance, lending or a related financial organisation.
- Experience working with financial, customer, risk or regulatory data.
- Exposure to Python or R for data analysis.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Azure.
- Knowledge of data quality and governance best practices.
- Experience working within Agile environments.
- Exposure to tools such as dbt, Looker or Microsoft Fabric.
