Join Police Digital Service as Data and Analytics Business Intelligence Manager
Salary starting at £65,000 per annum
The Data and Analytics Business Intelligence Manager will lead the development and delivery of business intelligence, analytics and reporting products that provide clear, trusted and actionable insight across the Police Digital Service (PDS). Reporting to the Senior Performance and BI Manager, the role will support the development of a coherent performance and business intelligence capability, ensuring that data, analysis and visualisation are used effectively to inform decision making, strengthen assurance and demonstrate value to policing.

Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence and Reporting
- Design, develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards, reports and visualisation products that provide clear insight into organisational, portfolio and service performance.
- Use tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL and related platforms to turn complex data into accessible, accurate and actionable reporting products.
- Support the development of consistent business intelligence standards, templates and reporting approaches across PDS.
Performance Insight and Analysis
- Analyse performance data to identify trends, risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities for improvement across services, products and programmes.
- Translate analytical findings into clear insight, narrative and recommendations for senior leaders, governance forums and delivery teams.
- Support the development and monitoring of key performance indicators, success measures and reporting cycles aligned to PDS strategic and business plan priorities.
Data Quality, Governance and Assurance
- Promote high standards of data quality, consistency, integrity and traceability across performance and business intelligence reporting.
- Work with data owners and subject matter experts to validate reporting outputs and ensure insight is reliable, proportionate and fit for purpose.
- Support assurance activity by providing evidence, analysis and reporting that enables constructive challenge and informed decision making.

Stakeholder Engagement and Continuous Improvement
- Build effective relationships with internal teams, senior stakeholders and external partners to understand reporting needs and shape practical BI solutions.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, helping colleagues to understand and use data confidently.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, reduce duplication, automate routine analysis and strengthen the overall use of data and insight across PDS.
What you need to succeed in the role
Experience
- Significant experience working in a data, analytics, business intelligence, performance or insight role within a complex organisation.
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining dashboards, reports and data visualisation products, ideally using Power BI or equivalent tools.
- Experience analysing complex datasets and presenting insight in a clear, accessible and evidence led way.
- Experience supporting performance reporting, KPI development, assurance activity or strategic decision making through data and insight.
- Experience working with stakeholders to understand requirements, shape reporting products and improve the use of data in decision making.
Key skills
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns and produce practical insight for a range of audiences.
- Strong working knowledge of BI and analytics tools, including Power BI, Excel, SQL and equivalent platforms, with experience across data analysis, data visualisation, data quality, data standards and reporting automation.
- Ability to design clear, user-focused dashboards and reports that support performance monitoring, assurance and continuous improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, accuracy and consistency.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively and deliver high quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Attributes
- Experience working in policing, government, digital services or another complex public sector environment.
- Understanding of performance frameworks, service assessment approaches or Government Digital Service principles.
- Knowledge of data governance, data management, data standards or data lifecycle approaches.
- Interest in emerging analytics, automation, artificial intelligence or data science techniques that could improve insight and reporting.

Working Arrangements
This is a remote role with some national travel required to attend meetings.
All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
