Where you’ll be working
You'll join our Retail, Customer Operations and Product function, where teams work together to improve experiences, solve business challenges and support Nationwide's long-term success.
The Data & Analytics pathway is designed to develop future professionals who can turn information into meaningful insight. As organisations become increasingly data-driven, demand continues to grow for people who can analyse information, identify trends, solve problems and use evidence to influence decisions.
Together, these functions are home to more than 15,000 colleagues, creating a diverse and supportive network of experts, leaders and peers to learn from throughout your programme.

Location
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, based at our Swindon or Northampton offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll be doing on the Data & Analytics Development Programme – Retail
Our Data & Analytics Development Programme begins on 6th September 2027.
Your programme begins with an induction, helping you learn more about Nationwide, connect with colleagues and build the foundations for your role.
Over two years, you'll complete three eight-month placements across Data & Analytics teams. Each placement offers a different perspective on how data supports decision-making across the organisation, helping you build specialist knowledge, practical experience and a strong professional network.
Alongside on-the-job learning, you'll take part in our Future Ready Core development programme. This combines development sessions, networking opportunities, self-guided learning, reflective workbooks, customer immersion experiences and access to a wider early careers community.

Data and analytics help Nationwide make better decisions. By analysing information, identifying trends and providing evidence-based recommendations, colleagues in this area support improvements across Retail, Customer Operations and Product.
Activities could include analysing data, building dashboards, creating reports and visualisations, identifying trends and working with stakeholders to answer business questions.
Throughout the programme, you'll gain exposure to different approaches to analysis, reporting and data management. You'll learn how data is used to understand performance, identify opportunities, support decision-making and improve outcomes across the organisation.
Depending on your placement, you may work with technologies such as:
- Power BI
- SAS
- SQL
- Power Apps
- Power Automate
Along the way, you'll develop highly transferable skills in:
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Data visualisation and storytelling
- Management information and reporting
- Customer insight generation
- AI and emerging data technologies
- Data ethics and governance
- Problem solving and critical thinking

The pace of work is varied. Alongside planned project work and reporting cycles, you'll respond to new business questions and changing priorities. This creates regular opportunities to learn new technologies, develop new skills and broaden your experience.
