Location: UK-based - Remote (Course Delivered Virtually). Two required visits to the Monzo office in London

Coding Black Females
Coding Black Females was established in 2017 to address the underrepresentation of black women in tech. We are a non-profit organisation with the aim to grow and inspire the community of black female developers. We are the largest network of black female developers in the UK.
Mission
Our mission is to grow the community of black women in software development and technical roles, from entry level to executive level. We will remove the barriers to enter the industry and progress within roles.
Aim
Our main aims are:
- Build the community by removing barriers, showcasing talent and making our role models visible
- Provide opportunities for our community to learn new skills, and share their skills with other people in the community
- Support the community through mentoring, providing a safe space for discussions and development
Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Data Analytics Instructor to lead the delivery of a 16-week Data Analytics programme for a cohort of four learners. The role combines instructor, teaching assistant and student experience responsibilities, with a strong focus on learner success.
The successful candidate will have a strong Data Analytics, Data Science and/or AI background alongside a proven teaching, training or mentoring background. You will deliver engaging and practical training, support learners throughout the programme, and help them develop practical, job-ready data skills.
The majority of course content will be provided by Coding Black Females, but you will be expected to prepare thoroughly, adapt materials where appropriate, develop or adapt practical exercises, contribute to assessments and, where required, mark assessments and provide learner feedback.
Working Pattern and Programme Structure
- The programme runs Monday to Friday for 16 weeks.
- Core programme hours are 10:00am – 4:00pm.
- The instructor should be available between 9:00am – 5:00pm to accommodate teaching, preparation, administration, meetings and learner support.
- Fridays will primarily be used for learner catch-up, one-to-one sessions and additional learner support.
- The successful candidate must be able to commit to the full 16-week programme.
- The programme starts on 18th January 2027 but is subject to change.
Responsibilities and Expectations
This is a dynamic role requiring flexibility, proactivity, strong technical knowledge and a commitment to learner success. As the lead Instructor, you will:
Teaching and Delivery
- Deliver live, engaging and interactive Data Analytics sessions Monday to Friday.
- Deliver the agreed curriculum using existing Coding Black Females course materials and programme structure.
- Explain complex technical concepts clearly and accessibly.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet different learner needs and learning styles.
- Facilitate practical exercises, technical activities and projects.
- Encourage learners to apply concepts to realistic data problems.
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive and positive learning environment.

- Monitor learner progress, engagement and participation throughout the programme.
- Provide constructive feedback, guidance and mentoring.
- Use Fridays for catch-up and one-to-one sessions where learners need additional support.
- Provide additional technical support during and outside teaching sessions where appropriate.
- Assist learners with exercises, projects and technical challenges.
- Support learners to troubleshoot problems and develop independent problem-solving skills.
- Identify learners who may be struggling and proactively provide additional support.
- Escalate learner engagement, progress or other concerns to the Coding Black Females team.
Student Experience
- Build positive and professional relationships with learners.
- Act as a consistent point of contact for learners throughout the programme.
- Help create an inclusive environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and seeking support.
- Support learner engagement and motivation throughout the programme.
- Contribute to key programme milestones, including midpoint and graduation activities.
- Provide feedback to Coding Black Females on learner experience and programme delivery.
Course Preparation, Administration and Development
- Review and familiarise yourself with assigned course content before delivery.
- Prepare lesson plans, examples and supporting materials as required.
- Complete preparation and programme administration within the agreed 9:00am – 5:00pm working pattern and day rate.
- Develop and/or adapt practical exercises and learning activities.
- Contribute to assessment activities and, where required, mark assessments and provide learner feedback.
- Identify areas of the curriculum requiring additional preparation.
- Review and adapt course materials where necessary to meet learner needs and maintain industry relevance.
- Contribute suggestions for improving course content and learner outcomes.
Collaboration with Coding Black Females
- Work closely with the Coding Black Females programme and wider delivery team.
- Attend relevant onboarding, planning and programme meetings.
- Communicate proactively about learner progress, course delivery and any issues.
- Provide feedback to support continuous programme improvement.
- Use Coding Black Females' nominated systems and tools to access and contribute to course materials.
- Where required, use GitHub/CBF Academy repositories for exercises and technical materials.

We are looking for people who have strong working experience and are comfortable teaching, or able to prepare to teach, in the following areas:

Candidates do not need to be experts in every topic listed. However, they should be highly competent across the core curriculum and able to confidently deliver assigned areas, while preparing independently for areas where additional subject-matter preparation is required.
Person Specification:
Essential requirements:
- Strong professional background in Data Analytics, Data Science, AI or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrable experience teaching, training, mentoring or facilitating technical learning.
- Strong practical knowledge of data analysis, data processing and SQL.
- Experience with data warehousing and/or data modelling.
- Experience with data transformation tools such as dbt.
- Strong understanding of data visualisation and communicating data insights.
- Understanding of data ethics and governance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug technical problems.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to learners.
- Experience working with learners at different levels of ability.
- Experience delivering live technical training.
- Ability to create or adapt practical exercises and learning activities.
- Strong learner-centred approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Additional Information
- This role is subject to successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check before commencement. Coding Black Females will arrange the required DBS check.
- The role is offered on a fixed-term freelance consultancy basis for the duration of the 16-week programme. The advertised day rate is £225.
