Data Analytics Intern – United Kingdom | Remote

About the Opportunity

We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Data Analytics Intern to support data-driven business initiatives and analytical projects. This opportunity is suited for individuals with a strong interest in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, and translating complex datasets into clear and actionable insights.

The intern will work with business and operational data, assist with reporting and visualization, and collaborate with relevant teams to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Perform exploratory and descriptive analysis to identify trends, patterns, and business insights.
  • Clean and transform datasets to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining analytical reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Create clear and meaningful data visualizations for business and stakeholder requirements.
  • Extract and analyze data using SQL queries from relational databases.
  • Support the preparation of recurring and ad-hoc reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Identify data quality issues and assist in resolving discrepancies.
  • Analyze key business metrics and performance indicators to support decision-making.
  • Work with team members to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical tasks.
  • Document data sources, analytical processes, methodologies, and findings.
  • Present analytical insights in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support process improvements by identifying opportunities to improve reporting and data utilization.

Technical Skills

  • Data Analysis: Microsoft Excel, Pandas, NumPy
  • Programming: Basic to intermediate Python
  • Database & Querying: SQL, relational databases, data extraction
  • Data Visualization: Power BI, Tableau, Matplotlib, Seaborn, or similar tools
  • Statistical Analysis: Descriptive statistics, correlation, trend analysis, and basic hypothesis testing
  • Data Preparation: Data cleaning, transformation, validation, and preprocessing
  • Business Intelligence: Dashboard development, KPI reporting, and performance analysis
  • Tools & Platforms: Jupyter Notebook, Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
  • Version Control: Basic familiarity with Git/GitHub is an advantage
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms or data warehouses is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental data analytics and statistical concepts.
  • Practical knowledge of Excel and data manipulation techniques.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
  • Understanding of data visualization and dashboard development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently while working effectively within a remote team.

Preferred Experience

  • Academic, personal, or portfolio projects involving data analytics or business intelligence.
  • Experience working with real-world datasets.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms.
  • Experience creating analytical dashboards or KPI reports.
  • Familiarity with data extraction and transformation processes.
  • Basic understanding of business metrics and performance analysis.
  • A portfolio, GitHub repository, or relevant analytics projects will be considered an advantage.
