The Opportunity

EY’s Global Tax Centre of Excellence (CoE) Data & AI team drives client transformation initiatives, leveraging Data & AI as core capabilities. This role seeks to:

  • Architect reusable patterns and process blueprints for scalable solutions across all EY Tax technology teams in key global markets.
  • Push the boundaries of AI-driven tax workflows, ensuring trusted, advanced analytics-driven decision-making for clients.

You’ll contribute to cutting-edge technology while supporting EY’s Tax transformation, shaping the future of tax compliance and risk management.


Role Purpose

The Data & AI Specialist role focuses on the design, architecture, and development of agentic tax workflows, supported by: ✅ AI-ready data products – Robust, high-quality data pipelines for trusted insights. ✅ Advanced data engineering – Ensuring seamless data integration from ERP systems, tax platforms, and external sources. ✅ Agent orchestration and AI-driven automation – Engineered models for quantum efficiency in tax processes, with built-in governance and security.

This high-impact technical role sits at the intersection of:

  • Tax domain expertise
  • Data architecture & engineering
  • Applied AI & agentic orchestration

Key outcomes: Trusted, scalable AI agents capable of metadata-driven decision-making—deployed across clients and platforms.


Key Responsibilities

1. Agentic Workflow & AI Design

  • Design agentic workflows for tax processes, including:
    • Modular task-level agent responsibilities (e.g., risk detection, compliance validation).
    • Cross-agent communication patterns for collaboration.
    • Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) escalation models to handle edge cases.
  • Define reusable agent blueprints aligned with Lean process definitions.
  • Apply leading-edge agent architectures, including:
    • Codex (GitHub Copilot integration)
    • Factory AI frameworks
    • Autonomous agent testing methodologies

2. Data Architecture & AI-Ready Data Products

  • Build robust AI data marts, ensuring:
    • Granularity exposures aligned with client tax needs (deterministic/probabilistic modelling).
    • End-to-end data lineage & quality controls (e.g., metadata tracking, impact analysis).
  • Develop data ingestion from sources like:
    • ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
    • Tax platforms (e.g., Avalara, Vertex)
    • Semi-structured documents (e.g., PDFs, spreadsheets)
    • External third-party registries (e.g., government API feeds)
  • Optimize for AI production—ensuring low-latency, scalable transforms for machine-learning pipelines.

3. Agent Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Embed workflow and agent governance frameworks to ensure:
    • Integration compatibility with client governance policies (e.g., Microsoft Repair Models).
    • Translation slews safeguards through real-time risk monitoring.
    • Proactive error handling paths for escalation and bias-removal techniques.
  • Design end-to-end lineage controls accounting for GDPR compliance and ethical AI guidelines.

Required Experience & Background

✔ 6+ years working at the intersection of:

  • Data architecture (schema normalization, partitioning strategies).
  • Data engineering (distributed systems, real-time processing).
  • Advanced analytics pipeline development.

✔ Must-have technical skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL database design and data modelling (e.g., dimensional modelling).
  • Building Enterprise-scale ETL pipelines, including Spark/Hive integration.
  • Hands-on experience with modern AI orchestration and tooling:
    • Azure ML / Databricks / MLflow (ingestion to inference pipelines).
    • LangChain (agentic orchestration based), LangGraph for workflow routing.
  • Code tropism (e.g., Python + PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face Transformers).
  • Fluency in large-scale data platforms (AWS/Redshift, Snowflake, or similar).
