About Amber Labs
Amber Labs is a specialist technology and digital transformation consultancy, delivering secure, high-quality solutions across complex programmes and highly regulated environments.
We work across areas including Digital, Data, Cloud, Architecture and Automation, supporting organisations where strong technical delivery, governance and engineering standards are essential. We foster a collaborative, supportive environment where people are encouraged to share ideas, develop their expertise and have a real impact.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join our team and support the design and delivery of modern data architecture across complex technology initiatives.
You will be responsible for developing data architecture and modelling approaches, working across data governance, master data, metadata and event-based architectures. You will also work closely with technical and delivery stakeholders, presenting architectural designs through governance forums and helping shape wider technology initiatives, projects and programmes.
This role would suit someone who can take complex business and technical requirements and translate them into practical, scalable data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop data architecture and data models, applying appropriate patterns, standards, tools and best practice.
- Present data architecture designs and recommendations to technical governance forums.
- Develop architecture across data modelling, Master Data Management (MDM), metadata management and data governance.
- Design and apply event-based architecture patterns, including publish/subscribe and data streaming.
- Work with public cloud technologies and cloud hosting, including AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Apply appropriate containerisation, networking and cloud architecture patterns.
- Support Agile delivery methodologies and ways of working.
- Work with DevOps, CI/CD methodologies, tools and best practice.
- Shape and support technology initiatives, projects, programmes and portfolios.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand problems and translate them into effective data architecture solutions.
- Contribute to data standards, governance and architecture best practice across programmes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

How We Work
We’ve worked hard to build a team of people who are experts at what they do. Because of that, we’ll trust you to get on with your job and give you the space to do it well. But you’ll always have plenty of support around you whenever you need it - whether that’s to sense-check an approach, tackle a tricky client challenge, or simply bounce ideas around. We keep our structure flat and our processes straightforward. If you have a good idea, you’ll be encouraged to run with it, and if something could be done better, we’ll encourage you to say so. Ultimately, we work with people who take pride in their work, support their team and want to leave things better than they found them.
