Role: Data Architect - CRM Technical Leader

Location: Aberford, Leeds

Hybrid: 3 days in the office

Salary: £75,000 - £80,000 + Bonus + PMI

THE ROLE IN SHORT

Reporting to the CRM Engineering Manager for LB Connected Solutions CXS, you will provide technical leadership for Salesforce and Celigo tools by designing, developing, and overseeing scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that support business objectives.

The role serves as the technical authority for the CRM ecosystem, contributes to data architecture initiatives, and acts as the CRM Architect's backup to ensure continuity of architectural solutioning and technical governance.

WHAT WOULD YOUR JOB LOOK LIKE:

Technical Leadership & Salesforce Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Salesforce solutions leveraging standard platform capabilities and custom development technologies, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and APIs.
  • Establish development standards, engineering best practices, and application design principles to ensure solution quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Conduct design and code reviews, identify technical risks, and mentor engineers in delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Drive technical decision-making and ensure consistency across the CRM technology landscape.
  • Contribute directly to the implementation of complex features and business-critical platform components.

Integration & Data Management

  • Design and oversee integrations between Salesforce, Celigo, and enterprise applications.
  • Working with CXS DGO (Data Governance Office), ensure data quality, consistency, governance, and traceability across systems and business processes.
  • Define scalable data models and integration patterns aligned with current and future business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvements in ETL performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Delivery & Engineering Excellence

  • Ensure high-quality software delivery through modern engineering practices, including automated testing, source control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support backlog refinement, technical estimation, delivery planning, and technical debt management.
  • Monitor platform health, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead root-cause analysis and remediation efforts.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the Back Office Engineering team.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Architecture

  • Partner with Product Marketing teams to translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with Group IT (DOTI) to ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, governance, and security standards.
  • Contribute to CRM and Data Architecture decisions to support platform scalability, integration, and long-term sustainability.

CRM Architect Backup

  • Act as deputy to the CRM Architect, ensuring continuity of architectural leadership and governance.
  • Support technology roadmap definition, architecture reviews, and key solution design decisions.
  • Represent the CRM domain in discussions with technical and business stakeholders when required.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BRING WITH YOU:

We are looking for a pragmatic technical leader who enjoys staying close to technology while also influencing architecture and engineering practices. You combine strong Salesforce engineering capabilities with a passion for data, integration, and platform scalability. You are comfortable challenging the status quo, guiding technical decisions, and building strong partnerships across Engineering, Product Marketing, Data Governance, and Group IT teams.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting Salesforce solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong expertise in Salesforce platform development, including Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, APIs, and integration patterns.
  • Proven experience leading technical design discussions, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring software engineers.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including object-oriented design, code quality, testing strategies, source control, and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing integrations between Salesforce and enterprise applications using ETL, middleware, or integration platforms, ideally Celigo.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data governance, and data quality principles within customer-facing platforms.
  • Ability to balance short-term business needs with long-term platform scalability, maintainability, and technical sustainability.
  • Experience working in Agile product teams and collaborating closely with Product Managers, Business Stakeholders, and Enterprise IT organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical and data-related issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Application Architect, System Architect, or Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) track.
  • Experience with Celigo Integrator.io or similar integration platforms.
  • Experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDP), marketing technologies, or customer experience ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data architecture, master data management, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience operating in a global, multi-stakeholder environment and collaborating with distributed teams.
