Data Architect

90-day contract - Outside IR35

Day Rate: Market Rate (Negotiable)
Location: Liverpool

An international manufacturing and distribution business is looking for an experienced Data Architect to bring structure to a complex and fragmented data environment.

The company designs and manufactures its own products, manages inventory and warehousing, and sells through direct, partner, eCommerce, and marketplace channels. Its systems have developed over time, creating duplicated data and multiple point-to-point integrations across manufacturing, shop floor, product, stock, finance, CRM, reporting, and fulfilment.

Your role as the Data Architect will be to establish exactly how the current environment operates, identify where data should be owned, and define a simpler target architecture based on clear systems of record, a single source of truth, and a controlled integration layer.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The outcome will be a verified view of the current systems, integrations, and data flows, an agreed future architecture, and a practical implementation roadmap setting out what needs to change, in what order, and what will be required to deliver it.

This is a strategic discovery and architecture project, not an implementation role. You will need to understand the detailed technical environment while producing a clear blueprint that can be implemented by other teams.

We are looking for experience in:

  • Data architecture within manufacturing or distribution
  • Manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and Shop Floor Information Systems
  • Data discovery, systems mapping, and data analysis
  • Master data, systems of record, and data governance
  • Integration architecture, APIs, and complex data flows
  • SAP or Salesforce, ideally SAP Business One
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Current state and target state architecture
  • Strategic roadmap development
  • Senior stakeholder and supplier engagement

Experience of AWS and mixed cloud, on-premise, and externally managed systems would be useful.

The project is based in Liverpool, and will require onsite stakeholder engagement during the discovery process. There is potential for a longer-term requirement providing architectural direction and oversight as the roadmap moves into delivery.
