Summary:

My market leading client are looking to secure the services of a contract-based Data Architect to assist with critical project work centralised around public sector services. Previous experience working in Public Sector with GDS is essential.

The selected consultant will be responsible for defining and maintaining the data models, standards and governance needed to support secure data sharing.

The role will focus on the structure, classification, ownership and movement of data across its lifecycle, ensuring it is well understood, properly governed and consistently managed across systems and organisations.

The Data Architect will support policy-based access control (PBAC) by defining the data attributes, classifications and rules required to meet business, security and governance needs.

Working with business, security, architecture and engineering teams, the role will help establish common data definitions, identify authoritative data sources and maintain clear visibility of how data moves and is used across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and deliver data architecture, data modelling and governance activities.
• Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models, including entities, attributes, relationships and dependencies.
• Define and maintain data schemas, classifications, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies and metadata.
• Establish data definitions, ownership, stewardship and authoritative data sources.
• Map and maintain data lineage, provenance, transformations, dependencies and consumption.
• Design scalable, secure and interoperable data structures for data-sharing solutions.
• Translate business, security and governance requirements into data models, classifications and access-control policies.
• Support the design and implementation of policy-based access control (PBAC).
• Contribute to data governance frameworks, standards, principles and processes.
• Define and support data quality, validation, consistency and integrity requirements.
• Support data migration, integration and transformation activities while maintaining lineage and semantic integrity.
• Ensure data architecture meets audit, traceability, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Work with engineering teams to translate data models into effective technical implementations.
• Maintain architecture, modelling, metadata, lineage and governance documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve data interoperability, reuse, consistency and discoverability.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning sessions, architecture reviews and stakeholder workshops.
