Data Architect
Location: Birmingham Area - Hybrid
Salary: up to £90,000 + package (bonus 5-10%, car allowance)
We're partnering with a leading UK organisation undergoing a significant data transformation and are looking for an experienced Data Architect to play a key role in shaping its enterprise data landscape.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on architecture, working closely with senior business stakeholders to deliver modern data platforms, analytics capabilities, and reporting solutions that drive business value.
The Role
As a Data Architect, you'll work across business and technology teams to define data architecture, shape reporting and analytics solutions, and establish best practice across the organisation. You'll be responsible for translating business requirements into scalable, cost-effective data solutions while influencing long-term data strategy and governance.
You'll engage with executive stakeholders, architects, engineers, analysts, and third-party partners to ensure data platforms enable informed decision-making across the business.

- Design enterprise-wide data architecture and target-state data platforms.
- Define and govern data architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
- Lead architecture reviews and provide technical assurance for data solutions.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Design data models, reporting architectures, and analytics platforms to support business intelligence and insight.
- Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and provide architectural recommendations balancing cost, value, and risk.
- Support the selection and implementation of reporting, analytics, and visualisation tools.
- Mentor Data Architects, Engineers, and Analysts, promoting technical excellence across the function.
- Drive continuous improvement across data platforms, reporting capabilities, and analytics services.
- Work closely with third-party partners and internal delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
About You
You'll be an experienced Data Architect or Lead Data Engineer with a strong background delivering enterprise reporting, analytics, and data platform solutions in complex environments.

You'll bring:
- Proven experience designing enterprise data architectures and modern analytics platforms.
- Strong knowledge of cloud data technologies including Azure, AWS, GCP, and Databricks.
- Experience with tools such as Azure Data Factory, Power BI, and AWS Glue.
- A solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and architecture best practice.
- Experience designing data warehouses, semantic models, and reporting solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and external delivery partners.
- A pragmatic approach to balancing technical excellence with commercial and business priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Tableau, Qlik, or other BI visualisation platforms.
- Microsoft Fabric or modern lakehouse architectures.
- Data science, advanced analytics, or AI-enabled reporting.
- Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality initiatives.
- Experience developing enterprise data strategies and technology roadmaps.
