We're hiring: Data Assessor (Level 5 Data Engineer & Level 6 Data Science) | £55,000 | Fully Remote

Are you a data engineering or data science professional who wants to shape the next generation of technical talent?

We're looking for an experienced Data Assessor to join our team, focused on assessing apprentices at the Level 5 Data Engineer and Level 6 Data Scientist (integrated degree) standards. This is a fully remote, home-based role, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK while using your expertise to mentor, assess, and quality-assure the people entering our industry.

What you'll do

  • Assess apprentices against the Skills England standards for Level 5 Data Engineer and Level 6 Data Science, providing constructive, developmental feedback that helps them meet the bar and grow in their careers.
  • Evaluate technical portfolios, projects, and professional discussions across areas like data pipelines and engineering, data governance and security, statistical analysis, machine learning, and reproducible, production-quality code.

What we're looking for

  • Someone with genuine industry depth in data engineering and/or data science. That means hands-on experience with:
    • Sourcing, transforming, pipelining, and storing data at scale, with strong data governance, quality control, and security practice.
    • Statistical analysis, inferential statistics, and time series forecasting.
    • Machine learning and modelling, including reproducible analysis and robust software engineering practice.
    • Programming for data manipulation, analysis, and visualisation (e.g. Python, SQL, and related tooling).

Skills England set specific experience and qualification requirements for assessors at these levels, so a solid track record in industry is essential. Assessing or teaching experience is a bonus, but we'll support the right person into the role. Relevant assessor qualifications (or a willingness to work towards them) are welcome.
