The Role
To facilitate the work of the wider Infection Prevention and Control Team, in the provision of administrative support. This role will ensure IPC data administrative processes and systems are robust and all IPC data is recorded appropriately to agreed timescales. This role is responsible for accurate data entry and the identification of quality control issues to the IPC Team.
The post holder will support the IPC Data Manager by inputting surveillance data, maintaining electronic records, and ensuring the integrity of information systems used to monitor infection trends and compliance.
The post holder will work as part of the Infection Prevention and Control Team, supporting audit activity relating to all surveillance activity within the Infection Prevention and Control Department. The throughput of data according to inpatient admission rates and newly diagnosed patients.

The working pattern for this role is: 0830-1630 Monday - Thursday (1 day earlier finished per week to be agreed and 1600 finish Friday)
Please note this is a fixed term post for 6 months until March 2027. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
In This Key Role, You Will
- Update, maintain and interrogation of departmental patient based data capture and collection systems. E.g. IP / OP activity, waiting returns, community activity and survey/uptake statistics.
- Liaise with data providers and resolution of queries and quality issues with data.
- Provide data quality monitoring and operational management reports to end users.
- Develop an understanding of the National Validation Error Rules and follow the defined processes used by NHS Lanarkshire to resolve these errors. E.g Waiting Times data validation errors
What You'll Bring
- Academic qualifications that require a numerical and technical content e.g. ECDL with further skills gained through a mixture of experience and internal training in a statistical environment.
- Experience working in an information/ statistics environment.
- Experience and knowledge of the application of NHS data definitions, information standards and policies is required and gained through internal training and ongoing support.
- Good communication skills are required to ensure tactful delivery of instruction and guidance on data quality, procedures and standards and maintain and encourage data flows
