Data Business Analyst | Contract | Retail Business | Outside IR35
A leading retail business is looking for a Data Business Analyst to join a major global data transformation programme. The programme is building a cloud data platform in Snowflake and modernising reporting through Power BI across multiple markets and functions.
You will work with senior stakeholders across Finance, Operations and other business areas, translating business needs into clear, signed-off requirements that data engineers and reporting teams can deliver.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery with senior business stakeholders.
- Define KPIs, metrics, business rules, calculations and data lineage.
- Harmonise data definitions across markets and functions.
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria and manage these through Jira.
- Work closely with data engineers, QA and reporting teams throughout delivery.
- Use SQL and Snowflake to profile and validate data.
- Support testing and user acceptance.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to a shared metric dictionary.
- Work within a two-week Agile sprint cycle.

Key Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' Business Analysis experience, with strong data/reporting/analytics experience.
- Proven experience defining KPIs, metrics and data requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and requirements skills.
- Strong SQL and hands-on Snowflake experience.
- Experience with Power BI and cloud data platforms.
- Understanding of data modelling and layered architectures such as Bronze, Silver and Gold.
- Experience working with financial and operational metrics in a multi-site retail or similar business.
