Data Installation and Testing Engineer
As a data installation and testing engineer at Multiconnect Communication Services Ltd, you will play a crucial role in the safe and effective installation, maintenance and repair of network cable infrastructure and components in network data systems, along with minor electrical works and AV installations. Your expertise will contribute to the reliability and efficiency of network infrastructure, meeting industry standards and regulations.
Installation and Maintenance
- Install, repair and maintain network data cabling, components and equipment.
- Install data cable containment systems including tray, basket and conduit.
- Ensure compliance with codes, guidance and quality and safety standards.
- Understand the priorities, plan and organise the work of other engineers, junior engineers and apprentices, and manage your own time to deliver within the expected timescales.
- Be confident in your own ability, motivated to deliver and ready to use opportunities to develop further.

Testing of Installations
- Undertake performance based testing and provide certification to the customer.
- Carry out maintenance where faults have occurred during the lifespan of the network.
- Conduct thorough testing and analysis to identify issues.
Schematic Interpretation
- Read and interpret network blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
- Plan and execute network cable installations based on technical specifications.
Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols, safe systems of work and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Implement safety control measures during installations and repairs.
- Adhere to RAMS and wear the PPE designated by the job risk assessment.
Quality Control
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure precision and adherence to relevant standards.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system efficiency.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, time spent and work completed.
- Provide regular updates to supervisors on project progress.
- Submit test results in a timely manner.

Customer Interaction
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
- Address client enquiries and concerns professionally.
- Be polite and courteous at all times and remain aware of the client environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- You must live in the North East, as projects are predominantly in this area.
- Health and safety qualifications or training, including up to date ECS or CSCS, PASMA and IPAF, are preferred.
- Data installation qualifications are an advantage.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
- Occasional working away from home is required as part of the role.
