Job Description
We are seeking a Critical Facilities Technician to join our Data Centre Engineering Operations team. In this role, you will support the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure that powers cloud services. Our data centres operate 24/7 and rely on highly reliable power and cooling systems. You will carry out hands-on maintenance, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure critical infrastructure operates safely and reliably.
You will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining mission-critical equipment, including:
- Liquid cooling systems
- Cooling and HVAC systems
- Power distribution systems
- Diesel generators
- UPS systems
- Switchgear
This role operates on a shift rotation supporting 24/7 data centre operations.
About the Team
The Data Centre Engineering Operations team is responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that supports data centre operations. Technicians operate and maintain complex mechanical and electrical systems that provide reliable power and cooling for cloud services. The team works in a highly operational and safety-focused environment where attention to detail and strong technical skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks.
- Monitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools.
- Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across power distribution and cooling systems.
- Support the operation and testing of liquid cooling systems, cooling equipment, diesel generators, UPS systems, and switchgear.
- Supervise specialist vendors carrying out maintenance or repair work onsite.
- Follow permit-to-work and site safety procedures.
- Participate in incident response and infrastructure troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and operational logs.
- Support generator testing and infrastructure failover exercises.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical infrastructure systems.
- Hands-on experience performing maintenance, inspections, or troubleshooting on plant equipment.
- Knowledge or experience with systems such as:
- Liquid cooling systems – primary area of expertise sought
- HVAC and cooling systems
- Pumps, motors, or industrial equipment
- Power distribution equipment
- Generators
- UPS systems
- Ability to follow operational procedures and safety standards.
- Willingness to work shifts supporting 24/7 operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical or electrical qualification, apprenticeship, diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience working in data centres, industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, or other critical environments.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar monitoring systems.
- Experience working with permit-to-work or safety management systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
