๐ Hybrid / Manchester
๐ 6-Month Contract
๐ฐ ยฃ380 per day
โ Outside IR35
We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer to support the testing and validation of infrastructure solutions within a controlled pre-production environment for a leading banking client.
๐ง Key Responsibilities
- Testing and validating infrastructure solutions in a controlled lab/pre-production environment prior to live deployment
- Deep VMware engineering including:
- โ๏ธ VM builds
- โ๏ธ ESXi & vCenter administration
- โ๏ธ vMotion
- โ๏ธ DRS
- โ๏ธ HA
- โ๏ธ Performance & resource management
- Managing and troubleshooting Storage & SAN environments including:
- ๐พ Access control
- ๐พ Multipathing
- ๐พ Performance tuning
- ๐พ Storage connectivity validation
- Supporting pre-production testing of server and infrastructure changes
- Documenting test outcomes, identifying issues, and recommending practical solutions
- Working closely with internal Data Centre Engineering teams to support successful delivery

- Strong background in Infrastructure or Data Centre Engineering
- Deep hands-on VMware experience within enterprise environments including:
- ๐น vSphere
- ๐น ESXi
- ๐น vCenter
- ๐น vMotion
- ๐น DRS
- ๐น HA
- ๐น Resource Management
- Strong Storage & SAN experience including:
- ๐พ SMB / NFS
- ๐พ Multipathing
- ๐พ Performance troubleshooting
- ๐พ Storage connectivity validation
- Experience with hardware management consoles such as:
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Dell iDRAC
- ๐ฅ๏ธ HP iLO
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Lenovo XClarity
- Good networking fundamentals with the ability to troubleshoot infrastructure connectivity issues
- Strong experience with:
- ๐ช Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Experience working within lab, test, or pre-production environments is highly desirable
- Comfortable working within Data Centre environments (non-physical build focus)
