Role: Data Centre Engineer
Location: Slough, Berkshire
Salary: £34,000–£42,000 (inc shift bonus)
Employment Type: Permanent / Full Time
Working Pattern: 24/7 continental shift pattern
TGS International Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Data Centre Support Engineer to join a leading technology and infrastructure services organisation, supporting a critical data centre environment in Slough.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer with previous data centre experience who is comfortable working across hardware deployment, structured cabling, infrastructure support, and fault resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out IMACD activities, including installations, moves, upgrades, refreshes, and decommissioning
- Rack, stack, and decommission servers, network equipment, and associated infrastructure
- Install, label, trace, and recover copper and fibre structured cabling
- Provide first-line hardware and infrastructure support, including diagnostics and component replacement
- Assist with incident and change management in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain accurate records across ticketing, asset management, and work order systems
- Conduct technology space inspections and maintain high standards of housekeeping
- Escort and supervise third-party contractors and client personnel within secure areas
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety, security, and operational requirements
- Participate in shift handovers and provide 24/7 rota coverage, including nights and weekends where required

Key Requirements

- Previous experience working within a data centre environment
- Experience with IMACD and hardware deployment
- Knowledge of structured cabling, including copper and fibre
- Familiarity with ticketing and asset management systems
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work a 24/7 shift pattern, including nights and weekends
- Competent with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desirable Experience
- CompTIA A+, Network+ or equivalent IT certification
- Experience working within enterprise or financial services environments
- BICSI or other relevant data centre and structured cabling qualifications
