Data Center Engineer - SC cleared

💰 £40,000 to £48,000 plus on call allowance of £300 per week (around £7,800 a year) and paid overtime
📍 Newbury or Swindon, five days a week on site
Full -time
Permanent

Company & role

This role sits with a global IT services and infrastructure provider that has been building, running and modernising enterprise IT estates since the mid nineties. A significant part of what they do is hands on data centre work for major enterprise customers, covering build and installation through to break fix, technology refresh and decommission.

You would be based permanently on one customer site, working inside a live enterprise data centre. The role is the physical face of the service: hardware installs, fault diagnosis, structured cabling, asset accuracy and support for change and project activity. This is genuine data centre engineering rather than desk side or service desk work.

Active SC clearance is required.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Permanent on site presence in a large scale enterprise data centre, so you are on real hardware every week rather than making occasional visits
  • Clear earning potential on top of base through a structured on call rota and paid overtime
  • A stable, long running customer engagement rather than short term project churn
  • Broad exposure across enterprise compute, storage and network platforms
  • Backed by a large services business, so there are routes into wider infrastructure, project and managed services work

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
