Job Overview

We are seeking a highly disciplined Electrical Test & Inspection Engineer to manage and execute electrical testing regimes across two major critical infrastructure/commercial environments in Corsham and Farnborough.

Operating under the guidance of the site Principal Duty Holder & Qualified Supervisor, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of testing, including critical preparation works (circuit tracing, labelling, isolation planning, and safety documentation) before any testing occurs.

This position demands absolute accuracy to protect critical operational environments where zero-downtime is the baseline requirement.

Shift Pattern, Travel & Logistics

This role operates on a unique, highly structured days shift pattern:

  • Schedule: 14-day shifts within a 28-day cycle.
  • Weekend Commitment: 2 weekends worked per 28 days.
  • Dual-Site Travel: One operational weekend will be based at the Corsham facility, and the other weekend will be at the Farnborough facility.
  • Expenses Paid: Due to the dual-site structure, working weekends at your non-primary location will require staying away. Full hotel accommodation and a travel/subsistence allowance are provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation Works: Conduct extensive pre-test surveys, verify single-line diagrams, trace circuit paths, cross-reference asset schedules, and formulate detailed, safe isolation/testing plans.
  • Perform full initial verification and periodic inspection and testing (EICRs): Across complex electrical infrastructure without causing disruption to services.
  • Work strictly within the safe systems of work: Mandated by the site's Principal Duty Holder.
  • Produce highly detailed, compliant electrical condition reports: Using industry-standard asset software.

Qualifications & Competence Requirements

  • Aligned strictly with the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) Qualifications Guide for electrical inspectors:
    • Core Qualifications: Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (or recognized EAS Table 4 equivalent/Experienced Worker Assessment).
    • Specialist Inspection & Testing: Approved Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations (e.g., City & Guilds 2391-51, 2391-52, or equivalents) or willing to work towards.
    • Regulations: Current City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations), including all current amendments.
    • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ verifiable practical experience in testing and inspection. Prior experience working within critical facilities (e.g., data centres) or complex commercial environments is highly preferred.
    • Security Clearance: Possession of, or the ability to achieve and maintain caveat-free UK Security Clearance (SC) is a mandatory prerequisite for this role.
