Data Centre Infrastructure Manager
Stevenage
Circa £65,500 depending on experience
Hybrid working – 2/3 days per week onsite
Do you have experience leading mission-critical infrastructure and data centre operations? Are you passionate about delivering resilient, secure environments that support essential business services?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading defence organisation where you'll take ownership of critical infrastructure environments across the UK.
You'll lead operational resilience, oversee data centre performance and drive continuous improvement across highly secure, enterprise-scale platforms supporting nationally important programmes.
Working within a growing infrastructure function, you'll play a key leadership role while helping shape the future of resilient hosting environments and operational excellence.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the operational management of critical data centre and infrastructure environments, ensuring high levels of availability, resilience and security. Working with both internal teams and external suppliers, you'll oversee infrastructure operations, disaster recovery planning, capacity management and service improvements across multiple environments.
This role combines technical infrastructure knowledge with operational leadership and offers the opportunity to influence the long-term direction of critical infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of critical data centre and hosting environments
- Drive operational resilience, availability and continuous service improvement initiatives
- Develop and oversee disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, including testing and recovery exercises
- Manage infrastructure capacity planning and long-term operational forecasting
- Lead operational incident response and support major service restoration activities when required
- Manage supplier relationships and coordinate specialist third-party service providers
- Ensure infrastructure operations comply with security, governance and operational standards
- Produce operational documentation, procedures, policies and service improvements
- Support and develop infrastructure management teams while fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience managing enterprise infrastructure or data centre environments
- Excellent understanding of server, storage, networking and hosting infrastructure
- Experience delivering disaster recovery, business continuity and resilience programmes
- Knowledge of critical facilities including UPS systems, generators, cooling infrastructure and building management systems (BMS)
- Experience managing operational governance, risk, change control and capacity planning
- Proven ability to lead operational teams and manage third-party suppliers
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business teams
- Experience within highly secure or regulated environments would be advantageous
- ITIL, CDCP, CDCM or similar certifications would be beneficial
