Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Manager (Site Lead) to take overall responsibility for the safe, compliant, and continuous operation of a large-scale data centre campus in Dundee.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a proven operations professional with experience managing mission-critical environments. You will lead multidisciplinary operational teams, oversee maintenance and service delivery activities, manage suppliers and contractors, and ensure the highest standards of uptime, safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will act as the key operational leader on site, providing strategic direction while driving day-to-day operational performance across the campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of site uptime, availability, operational resilience and SLA performance across all critical infrastructure systems.
- Lead the safe operation and maintenance of UPS systems, standby generators, HV/LV distribution networks, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, cooling systems and associated critical plant.
- Provide leadership and direction to engineering, facilities and operational teams within a 24/7 mission-critical environment.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance programmes, asset lifecycle activities and infrastructure upgrades to ensure maximum reliability and performance.
- Review and approve maintenance activities, risk assessments, permits to work, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
- Act as the senior escalation point for critical incidents, infrastructure failures, power events and operational emergencies, ensuring effective service restoration and communication.
- Drive root cause analysis investigations following incidents and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and operational resilience.
- Own the site's change management process, ensuring all activities within live environments are properly assessed, approved and executed with minimal operational risk.
- Oversee contractor management, supplier performance and specialist service providers, ensuring compliance with site standards, contractual obligations and safety requirements.
- Drive health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance across all operational and engineering activities.
- Maintain business continuity, emergency response and disaster recovery plans to support uninterrupted service delivery.
- Utilise DCIM, BMS and monitoring platforms to oversee infrastructure performance, capacity utilisation, power consumption and cooling efficiency.
- Monitor operational KPIs, maintenance performance, energy efficiency metrics and service delivery standards, implementing continuous improvement initiatives where required.
- Manage operational budgets, maintenance expenditure and capital improvement projects, ensuring effective cost control and value delivery.
- Produce regular operational reports, risk assessments and performance updates for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, succession planning and technical development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, safety and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
