Rapiscan Systems is a world-leading provider of advanced detection and inspection technologies, helping airports, borders, ports, military facilities, and critical infrastructure organisations around the globe combat terrorism, smuggling, illegal immigration, and trade fraud.
Due to continued innovation and growth, we are looking for a Data Collection Test Technician to join our Product Development team. This is a hands-on role supporting the testing and development of next-generation X-ray screening technologies used to identify explosives, weapons, contraband, and other security threats.
This position would suit candidates with experience in airport security screening, baggage screening systems, military environments, test engineering, product testing, quality testing, or security screening operations.
About The Role
As a Data Collection Test Technician, you will play a key role in validating and improving cutting-edge X-ray detection systems. You will be responsible for planning and conducting test activities, collecting and analysing data, maintaining detailed records, and providing valuable feedback to our engineering and algorithm development teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute test programmes and data collection activities for prototype X-ray systems
- Develop, manage, and maintain test sets and test items
- Conduct scanning and testing activities while capturing detailed records and observations
- Analyse test data and identify trends to support algorithm development
- Curate and maintain algorithm datasets and test material inventories
- Produce accurate reports and communicate findings to engineering teams
- Research and understand regulatory and commercial testing requirements
- Support certification and compliance testing activities
- Liaise with external regulatory and testing agencies
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and company standards
About You
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or a related discipline, or a minimum of 2 years' relevant industry experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of testing activities
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Physically capable of lifting, moving, and scanning test bags and equipment
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10-20%)

Highly Desirable Backgrounds
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
- Airport security screening environments
- Baggage screening or checkpoint operations
- Security screening equipment
- Military, defence, or armed forces backgrounds
- Test engineering, validation, or product testing
- Quality assurance or compliance testing
- Working with regulatory or certification bodies
- Data analysis, test methodologies, or statistical analysis
- Knowledge of munitions, weapons, explosives, or threat detection technologies would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
