Data Consultant

Data & Analytics Consultancy

Milton Keynes / Hybrid

We are currently looking for a Data Consultant to join our Data practice based out of our Milton Keynes.

As a Data Consultant, you will work on projects, executing data-driven tasks, while offering recommendations to the client, that will enhance project scalability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consultation: Delivering first-class data consulting services to SDG’s clients
  • ETL/ELT Implementation: Data processing and development of ETL/ELT processes
  • Architecture Support: Support the design of data models and architecture under the guidance of architects on Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake or similar).
  • Technical Delivery: Analysis, design and development of solutions and projects in the field of data engineering in Business Intelligence and Big Data.
  • Quality Driven Approach: A strong foundation in soft skills e.g. clear communication both verbally and in writing, passion for developing high quality and accurate outputs, ability to adapt to different clients and businesses, ability to be proactive and navigate uncertainty.

Ideally you will be able to offer:

  • A strong understanding of designing and implementing data warehouses, data lakes, or data lakehouses.
  • Demonstratable experience of implementing Slowly Changing Dimensions types 0,1 and 2.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with Data.
  • A strong understanding of data integration techniques and solution/performance optimisation.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of SQL, Python or Spark.
  • Apply relevant data modelling techniques (e.g. STAR, Snowflake).
  • Excellent Communication and Teamwork Skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring experience.

Technologies & Experience Desired:

  • Git and JIRA software and backlog management tools.
  • Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or Looker.
  • Matillion, Talend, Pentaho, SSIS.
  • Databricks, DBT, Fivetran.
  • Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DB or Redshift.
  • Building CI/CD pipelines and IaC.
  • Analytical skills including the ability to apply a range of analytics, visualisation and data science techniques.
  • Strong understanding of Matillion architecture and access control.
