Data Lead | Financial Services Transformation Programme
We are seeking an experienced Data Lead to take ownership of a critical data workstream within a major transformation programme.
This role is suited to a senior data professional who operates beyond the boundaries of their job title, bringing leadership, structure, and accountability to complex initiatives. You will lead a workstream end-to-end, creating clarity where priorities are evolving and ensuring successful outcomes across business and technology teams.
Whether your background is in architecture, product ownership, delivery, or data transformation, the key requirement is your ability to be recognised as a leader in the room, influencing senior stakeholders and driving decisions without the support of a dedicated Programme Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a strategic data workstream from inception through delivery.
- Create structure, governance, and direction within ambiguous or evolving environments.
- Take ownership of business outcomes rather than managing a task list.
- Build and manage relationships with senior business, technology, data, and risk stakeholders.
- Drive alignment and decision-making across multiple teams and functions.
- Provide challenge and oversight to engineering and delivery teams where appropriate.
- Ensure delivery remains focused on agreed business objectives.
- Support data platform modernisation and legacy estate migration initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
