Job Title: Data Consultant / Oracle Health (Cerner) Data Specialist
About the Role
A leading NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Data Consultant / Oracle Health (Cerner) Data Specialist to support a critical programme focused on resolving data performance issues, improving data pipelines, and enhancing the overall quality and accessibility of clinical and operational data.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly analytical consultant with deep Oracle Health (Cerner) expertise, strong SQL and database administration skills, and a proven track record of delivering within NHS environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and remediate data performance issues across Oracle Health (Cerner) environments.
- Analyse and optimise complex SQL queries, data structures, and database performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting data pipelines, integrations, and reporting workflows.
- Assess existing data architecture and recommend improvements to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Gather requirements from clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders across the Trust.
- Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Support data quality, governance, and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with wider technical and business teams to ensure successful delivery of data-related improvements.
- Provide expert guidance on NHS data standards, national submissions, and data dictionaries.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience working with Oracle Health (Cerner Millennium) data.
- Minimum 5 years' NHS experience within data, reporting, analytics, integration, or clinical systems environments.
- Advanced SQL development and optimisation skills.
- Strong DBA knowledge, including:
- Query optimisation
- Performance tuning
- Indexing strategies
- Database troubleshooting
- Deep understanding of data architecture, data modelling, and data structures.
- Experience investigating and resolving data pipeline and performance issues.
- Strong understanding of NHS data standards, national submissions, and NHS data dictionaries.
- Excellent stakeholder management and requirements gathering skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a proactive approach to issue resolution.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working directly with Cerner Millennium reporting databases and associated data models.
- Knowledge of NHS data warehouse environments.
- Experience supporting NHS digital transformation, reporting, or EPR programmes.
- Understanding of healthcare interoperability and integration concepts.
Candidate Profile
The successful consultant will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills. You will be a natural problem solver, capable of diagnosing complex data issues, optimising database performance, and working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
