Data Consultant

Location: Hertford (Hybrid, 2 days per week on-site)
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE
Industry: Software, Business Intelligence & Technology

The Opportunity

I'm currently working with a specialist software and Business Intelligence organisation that is looking to hire a Data Consultant to join its team in Hertford.

This is a varied technical role combining customer support, consultancy, Business Intelligence, reporting and software development. You'll work primarily with a European customer base, helping customers troubleshoot technical issues, configure software and deliver BI and reporting solutions.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects from requirements gathering and design through to development, testing, documentation and deployment. Alongside this, you'll provide technical support, deliver customer training and produce technical documentation and guidance.

The role would suit someone with a strong technical background who enjoys working directly with customers and solving problems rather than being confined to a purely support-focused position. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, researching solutions and getting to the bottom of complex technical issues.

You'll also have exposure to pre-sales activity, technical demonstrations and industry events, with some travel required, including limited international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and prompt technical support to customers across the European customer base.
  • Assist customers with software installations and configurations across Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving operating systems, relational databases, database connectivity, networks and web applications.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of Business Intelligence and reporting projects, from requirements gathering and design through to development, testing, documentation and deployment.
  • Develop reports using Business Intelligence and reporting technologies.
  • Document customer solutions for both internal reference and customer use.
  • Prepare and deliver customer training sessions.
  • Develop training materials, technical documentation and quick reference guides.
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives, including pre-sales assistance and technical demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets for customer-rechargeable work.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across different regions during induction and ongoing training.
  • Attend trade organisation events to support product promotion and sales activity.
  • Travel when required, including limited international travel.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
