Data Developer
Group Finance - Technical Analysts team - London
Provide high quality advice and relevant, accurate information to the decision makers in A&O Shearman, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and delivering our service efficiently.
What You Will Do
Microsoft Fabric Data Developer to design, build, and support modern cloud-based data solutions using the Microsoft Fabric platform. The successful candidate will develop scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, lakehouses, and reporting solutions that enable business stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions.
- Design and develop end-to-end data solutions within Microsoft Fabric.
- Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines from multiple source systems.
- Develop and optimise Lakehouse, Warehouse, and OneLake solutions.
- Implement Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) to support data quality and governance.
- Create and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Data Factory, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, and Spark.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, and data models.
- Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues within Fabric environments.
- Implement security, access controls, and governance standards.
- Support CI/CD deployment processes and source control best practices.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Produce technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
What You Will Have
Technical Skills
- Strong SQL development skills.
- Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions.
- Knowledge of Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures.
- Experience with Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks.
- Understanding of data modelling techniques, including star schemas and dimensional modelling.
- Experience with Power BI semantic models and reporting.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and performance optimisation.
- Experience using Git and CI/CD deployment practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with Azure Data Services.
- Working with multi-currency financial information.
- Knowledge of PySpark or Spark SQL.
- Understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and security frameworks.
- Experience with DevOps and automated deployment pipelines.
- Knowledge of financial, legal, or professional services data environments.
- Elite 3E IDE 2.7 or later development experience is required.
- Elite 3E Templates / Design Gallery knowledge would be highly advantageous.
Toolsets
- SQL Server - TSQL
- XSLT
- Azure DevOps knowledge
- Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Logic Apps and Power Automate) experience is highly advantageous.
- Microsoft SQL Reporting Services would be advantageous.
