The Times and The Sunday Times
The Times and The Sunday Times represent a combined 400 years of covering news and providing comment and analysis on the UK and the world. We are authoritative, credible, responsible, trusted and a part of the nation’s cultural heritage.
Your team
The Times and The Sunday Times are some of the oldest and most respected news brands in the world. The data team offers an essential service to both newsrooms, fact-checking misleading claims, generating stories and informing our readers. Our work has won numerous awards for data design, statistical excellence and investigative journalism.
Your role
We are looking for a Data Developer to join our data journalism team. You will build interactives, calculators and data-led stories that work across multiple platforms, help maintain data infrastructure the team relies on, and work with senior editors across both newsrooms to turn data into journalism our readers can’t get anywhere else.
We are looking for a journalist who codes, or a developer with real news instinct: someone who can take a story from raw dataset to published interactive. You will also keep on top of the latest trends in data and graphics journalism.
Apply
Apply with a covering letter and CV by August 23rd.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
