About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join a prominent care provider undergoing a significant data transformation initiative. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining a modern Azure-based data platform that supports reporting, analytics, and self-service data access. Your expertise will directly impact the organization’s ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making and future AI projects. The role is based in Birmingham with a hybrid working model requiring attendance at the office twice a month, providing a flexible yet collaborative work setting.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data engineering with proven experience working within Microsoft Azure environments. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, along with professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate. Essential skills include expertise in SQL development, data modelling, and building scalable data pipelines. Familiarity with CI/CD processes, data quality management, and enterprise data modelling is also highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines, from requirements gathering through to deployment in production environments, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
- Create and maintain scalable data models, transformations, and data products utilizing modern Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, data quality, consistency, and availability to support real-time and batch processing needs.
- Support the development of an enterprise ontology model to enhance understanding of data relationships across various domains within the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance within the data platform.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering processes and tools, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
