About The Role
The Data Engineer Programme at Newto Training is a self-funded, intensive career development initiative aimed at individuals with little or no prior experience in data engineering or related fields. This programme provides a unique opportunity to gain industry-recognised certifications, practical hands-on experience, and direct access to employment pathways. Upon successful completion, participants are guaranteed a job placement with a starting salary of up to £40,000, making it an ideal stepping stone for those looking to enter the data industry. The role involves working with data pipelines, cloud platforms, and analytics tools to support business decision-making processes. Participants will develop core skills in SQL, Python, Power BI, and cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, positioning them as valuable assets to future employers.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, good communication skills, and a genuine interest in technology, data, and problem-solving. Basic computer literacy and a proactive attitude are essential. Successful candidates should be committed to completing the training, obtaining certifications, and actively engaging in practical project work. No prior certifications are necessary, as the programme provides all necessary training and support to achieve industry-recognised qualifications.
Responsibilities
Participants in the Data Engineer Programme will undertake a range of responsibilities designed to develop their technical and professional skills. These include:
- Attending live instructor-led training sessions
- Completing practical projects
- Preparing for industry-recognised certification exams such as:
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300)
- Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
- Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-901)
- Working on real-world data projects to build hands-on experience in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization, using tools like Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI
- Receiving tailored CV support, interview coaching, and career guidance to prepare for job applications
- Actively participating, completing assignments, and engaging with tutors and peers to maximize learning outcomes
- Being supported through employer networks and recruitment partners to secure suitable employment opportunities
