About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you'll design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ELT processes to meet data and reporting needs. You’ll create reliable and well-documented solutions, continuously improving the performance and automation of our data warehouse environment. You will also be involved in the ingestion of new and legacy data sets into Microsoft Fabric.
You will be responsible for:
- Designing, building, and maintaining reliable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data to downstream systems using Microsoft Fabric and other modern tools.
- Optimising data models, queries, and pipelines for speed, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Monitoring and addressing bottlenecks or inefficiencies proactively.
- Implementing checks, alerts, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency, fostering trust in delivered data.
- Working closely with Insights Analysts to deliver reporting needs and partnering with the Governance team to ensure alignment with data standards and access controls.
- Maintaining up-to-date technical documentation for all ETL processes, data transformations, and warehousing solutions.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
We’re looking for someone who brings the following skills and experiences:
- Microsoft Fabric expertise, design, build and implementation.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, automation and scripting.
- Experience of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Data Factory, and notebooks.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills, with clarity of when to ask for guidance.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data governance, quality, lineage, and lifecycle management.
