Senior Data Engineer – 12-Month Contract
Join a major organisation undergoing a large-scale transformation, using data and technology to deliver meaningful impact at national scale. This is a key role within a modern AWS data environment, helping turn complex data into reliable, actionable insight.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design, build and enhance scalable data pipelines and ETL solutions across AWS.
- Develop robust batch and near real-time data processing capabilities.
- Work with Python, SQL, Airflow, AWS Glue and Redshift to deliver reliable data solutions.
- Improve platform performance, resilience and cost efficiency.
- Build effective monitoring, alerting and support processes to keep data services running smoothly.
- Promote strong engineering standards across code quality, automation, testing and documentation.
- Partner with architecture, analytics and platform teams to deliver high-value data projects.
- Help ensure data solutions meet governance, security and compliance standards.
- Share knowledge, support colleagues and contribute to ongoing improvements across the engineering function.

Main Skills Needed:
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services, particularly Redshift, S3, Glue and Lambda.
- Advanced SQL and Python capability.
- Proven experience designing, developing and supporting data pipelines and ETL frameworks.
- Practical knowledge of Airflow and Spark.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing and performance optimisation.
- Experience working with GitHub, CI/CD and Agile delivery.
- Experience within a regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Background in lottery, gaming or financial services would be a bonus.
