RBAC Security & Data Governance Engineer

Contract Duration: 6 months

Location: Hybrid (3 days a week in the office)

Paying Inside IR35

Join our team for a pivotal role in modernising and enhancing the security and data governance frameworks within a leading media organisation. This contract position is designed to accelerate key programmes in role-based access control (RBAC), data classification, and platform security.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Access Management & RBAC:

    • Implement and optimise RBAC enhancements.
    • Integrate access requirements from enterprise-wide IDAM programmes.
    • Automate access management processes.
  • Data Classification & Governance:

    • Establish and enforce data classification standards.
    • Integrate governance principles into new data integrations.
    • Enhance metadata classification controls.

  • Metadata & Data Catalogue Integration:

    • Enhance metadata visibility and integration across platforms like BigQuery, Alation, and Fivetran.
  • Vulnerability Management & Platform Security:

    • Lead the assessment and remediation of platform vulnerabilities.
    • Improve security reporting.
    • Establish metrics for tracking security performance.
  • Data Platform Operations:

    • Participate in platform operations.
    • Troubleshoot issues.
    • Enhance operational processes.
  • Platform Optimisation:

    • Identify and implement strategies to reduce technical debt and improve platform reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, GCS, IAM, and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Python, Airflow, dbt, and familiarity with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with data governance tools like Alation, Fivetran, and Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of RBAC, IAM, PAM, and data governance principles.
  • Experience in highly regulated or security-conscious environments.
  • Ability to automate processes and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

Ideal Backgrounds:

  • Previous roles in large-scale media organisations or enterprise technology environments.
  • Experience in cloud transformation programmes and data governance initiatives.
  • Former positions in major consultancies such as Accenture, Deloitte, Capgemini, KPMG, EY, Thoughtworks, BJSS, or Publicis Sapient.
