About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join Catalyst’s elite Data Analytics Team. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining the company's central data platform, ensuring the seamless integration and accessibility of critical data assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for building robust data pipelines, enhancing platform functionalities, and ensuring data quality and reliability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex data projects within a fast-paced environment, contributing directly to the organization’s strategic data initiatives and supporting decision-making processes at the highest levels.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background, with a minimum of a 2:1 degree or a first-class honors in a relevant field such as Computing Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline. Demonstrable experience as a Data Engineer, particularly within hedge funds, private equity, or investment banking sectors, is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of designing and implementing data pipelines, working with cloud platforms, and managing large-scale data environments. Proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS, and other data management tools is required, along with familiarity with version control systems and orchestration tools. Excellent communication skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and a proactive approach to learning new technologies are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and optimize sophisticated data pipelines to facilitate the seamless import of data from external vendors, sell-side partners, and other sources into the central data platform. Ensure pipelines are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
  • Platform Development & Testing: Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the data platform, aligning it with evolving business needs. Conduct regular testing to verify system effectiveness, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Platform Maintenance & Data Reliability: Maintain the health and performance of the data platform to ensure uninterrupted access to vital data points. Regularly verify data quality, consistency, and integrity to support accurate analytics and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement & Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to improve data accessibility and usability. Drive innovation by adopting advanced analytics technologies, methodologies, and best practices to enhance data-driven decision-making processes.
